Licenciado en Ciencias, especialidad de química cuántica, por la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, realizó en esta misma universidad su tesis doctoral “Transición Orden-Caos en el Sistema Molecular LiCN”, dentro del tema del caos cuántico y las manifestaciones cuánticas del caos, el cual sigue constituyendo su principal línea de investigación. Además, cabe destacar una línea de investigación secundaria centrada en la física de biosistemas.
